For WordPress sites, installing plugins is not only essential, it’s easy. For almost every type of functionality that you could need, there’s a plugin that will do the job.

Choosing plugins

You can choose from free or paid options when you install plugins. For someone just starting out, free plugins will do the job just fine. If you can afford the paid options, then you may want to go this route. These will generally come with added features and a lot more support.

Your choice will depend on what you need done, and how much you need the extra features. Once again, doing your research is key. If a plugin is developed by a reputable developer, does what you need it to do, and is free, then why go for the paid version? But if it is free, check that it is a good option, that some form of support is available and that it is well-reviewed.

Luckily for WordPress users, plugins do come with a rating. When you install a plugin on your site, you’ll see what options are available, their star ratings and how many Active Installs they have. So simply search for what you need, hit the Install Now button, and Activate.
